PRIVETS & HEDGES

Both garden privet and wild privet are common plants used for Hedging, they're equally fast-growing, creating privacy and shelter for garden boundaries. We can plant hedges for you, and while we don't take on maintainance jobs, we will beautify ones already establsihed as part of a larger Project.

Privet is hard shaped (cutting back the branches) in the springtime with a soft trim as and when necessary.
White flowers will grow on Privet hedging if left unclipped. Regular clipping all the way throughout the summer months will help to produce the best quality out of your hedge. Theres nothing quite like the full lushious look of a well kept hedge.
But there's also the Evergreen "Leylandii" Conifer Hedging, it's beautiful when fully matured and it grows rapidly. It is the least expensive of all Hedges.
It reaches comfortable and sturdy heights of 4ft (but they can grow much taller with care) and are they extremely wind tolerant. Our experts recommend keeping them the tops trimmed twice a year and the sides once a year. It does very well in the cold and wind so it works well for most of the UK.

English Laurel is the fastest non-conifer Hedge to grow, they are extremely bushy especially in the taller varieties they're happiest at 6 around 6 foot tall and well kept and trimmed. They can grow up to around 18 foot tall when fully matured and left untrimmed for its life. Thankfully you only need to trim them once or twice a year depending on their growth, their location, maturity etc.

There are other Laurels we can discuss with you along with a lot more varieties and colour options to choose from - like Holly, Beech, Hornbeam, Pyracantha, Viburnum tinus, Photinia (i.e. the beautiful ‘Red Robin’), Griselinia littoralis (the One that looks as Green and tasty as a Granny Smith and skirts its leaves right along the floor. Thuja Emerald (Also known as Emerard Cedar), and a variety of other Privets and Leylandiis.
